`Get Your Info on Track
`
`By Barry Simon T he hallmark of the In(cid:173)
`
`En fish Tracker Pro goes beyond standard file
`searches by integrating e-mail and Web pages.
`lyzes your data and sets up some
`initial trackers (saved searches).
`It was uncanny how the pro(cid:173)
`gram set up trackers for e-mail
`correspondents and projects au(cid:173)
`tomatically.
`Enfish has licensed the full set
`of Inso viewers (the ones used in
`Quick View Plus) for use inside
`the Enfish window and for track(cid:173)
`ing. That means Tracker Pro can
`index the text inside virtually any
`spreadsheet program or word
`processing document.
`Tracker Pro will also search
`any e-mail inmost popular e-mail
`programs and even searches in(cid:173)
`side e-mail attachments. It can ac(cid:173)
`cess and index contact informa(cid:173)
`tion inside ACf!, Goldmine, or
`Outlook. Tracker Pro also index(cid:173)
`es the content ofWeb pages.
`The index is frequently updat(cid:173)
`ed by a background agent. Be(cid:173)
`cause of the magic of MAPI,
`
`formationAge is having
`so much information
`that you're overwhelmed. For
`many of us, it's difficult to find
`the information we know we've
`seen but can't recall where. Tra(cid:173)
`ditional file-indexing programs
`are limited because more often
`than not information is stored as
`saved e-mail or on some Web
`page we've seen.
`Enfish Tracker Pro ($80
`street) changes this by indexing
`'your files, e-mail, and selected
`Web pages, and then giving you
`a flexible set of tools to manage
`the indexed data. This is the kind
`of breakthrough product that
`could change the way you inter(cid:173)
`act with the information on your
`computer.
`During installation (and later
`on demand), the program ana-
`
`when you move a
`message between e(cid:173)
`mail folders, Tracker
`Pro can open it even
`though the message
`showed the wrong di(cid:173)
`rectory (at first). But
`a disk file doesn't
`work that way; you
`cannot access a re(cid:173)
`named or moved file
`from Tracker Pro
`until it's updated.
`You can perform
`Boolean searches on one or
`more words; the program will
`search for phrases but not
`nearby words. You can filter
`based on file type, mail sender
`or recipient, date, or location.
`Filters can be both inclusive
`and exclusive.
`By carefully picking the search
`words, a tracker can encompass
`all the information associated
`with a project. The shift in para(cid:173)
`digm from searches to projects is
`helped by the inclusion of cross
`references between trackers in
`the listings of items tracked.
`
`FIND FILE: The results of a search
`are displayed in the main panel
`of Enfish Tracker Pro.
`
`Anyone who juggles lots of
`information, especially lots
`of e-mail will want Enfish
`Tracker Pro.
`Enfish Tracker Pro. Street price:
`$80. Requires: 16MB RAM,
`50MB hard disk space, Mi(cid:173)
