`
`a first networking device, transmitting a first encrypted wireless network stream
`
`from a first location, said first encrypted wireless network stream being encrypted with a
`
`first key for sending and receiving encrypted information, and said first wireless network
`
`stream providing a first level of access to network resources using said first encrypted
`
`wireless network stream;
`
`wherein said first level of access to network resources includes access to
`
`information on a computer located near the first networking device;
`
`a second networking device, transmitting a second unencrypted wireless network
`
`stream from an area overlapping in space with the first networking device, said second
`
`wireless network stream not being encrypted, and providing a second level of access to
`
`network resources when accessing said second wireless network stream without said first
`
`key;
`
`wherein said second level of access to network resources provided by said second
`
`wireless network stream does not include access to the information on the computer, and
`
`provides internet access without said first key.
`
`2. A system as in claim 1, wherein said first networking device and said second networking
`
`device are two separate devices which are physically in a single housing.
`
`3. A system as in claim 1, wherein said second networking device initially allows access to a
`
`limited number of webpages before allowing access to the Internet.

`
`
`
`4. A system as in claim 1, wherein said first networking device also provides internet access.
`
`5. A system as in claim 4, wherein said first and second networking devices provide internet
`
`access through the same connection.
`
`6. A system as in claim 1 , wherein information relating to the second unencrypted wireless
`
`network streams' internet access is publicly displayed.
`
`7. A system as in claim 1, wherein said second level of access has less bandwidth than said first
`
`level of access.
`
`8. A system as in claim 1, wherein said first networking device includes one or more additional
`
`keys that are different for different users.
`
`9. A network transmitting system, comprising:
`
`wireless network stream;
`
`wherein said first level of access to network resources includes access to
`
`information on a computer located near the first networking device;
`
`2
`
`STARWOOD Ex 1005, page 2
`
`
`
`a second networking device, transmitting an unencrypted second wireless network
`
`stream from an area overlapping in space with the first networking device, said second
`
`wireless network stream controlling access with a second key, and providing a second
`
`level of access to network resources in order to access said second wireless network
`
`stream,
`
`wherein said second level of access to network resources provided by said second
`
`wireless network stream does not include access to the information on the computer, and
`
`allows access to the internet without said first key and with said second key.
`
`10. A system as in claim 9, wherein said first networking device and said second networking
`
`device are two separate devices which are physically in a single housing.
`
`11. A system as in claim 9, wherein said second networking device initially allows access to a
`
`limited number of webpages before allowing access to the internet.
`
`12. A system as in claim 9, wherein said first networking device also provides access to the
`
`internet and said first and second networking devices provide access to the internet through the
`
`same connection.
`
`l3. A system as in claim 9, wherein information relating to the unencrypted second wireless
`
`network streams' internet access is publicly displayed.
`
`14. A system as in claim 9, wherein said second key is different for different users.

`
`
`
`15. A system as in claim 9, wherein said first networking device includes one or more additional
`
`keys that are different for different users.
`
`16. A network transmitting system, comprising:
`
`wireless network stream;
`
`wherein said first level of access to network resources includes access to
`
`information on a computer located near the first networking device;
`
`a second networking device, transmitting an encrypted second wireless network
`
`stream from an area overlapping in space with the first networking device and being
`
`encrypted with a second key for sending and receiving encrypted information, and said
`
`second wireless network stream providing a second level of access to network resources
`
`using said first encrypted wireless network stream;
`
`wherein said second level of access to network resources provided by said second
`
`wireless network stream does not include access to the information on the computer, and
`
`allows access to the internet without said first key and with said second key.
`
`17. A system as in claim 15, wherein said first networking device and said second networking
`
`device are two separate devices which are physically in a single housing.
