`Sterilizing a:rocesses for. botiles
`Depending <in-product category, we
`apply various degemrlnation proces·
`ses. Packages for acid products of a
`
`pH-value below 4.5, with limited
`reproducibility of the microorga:ilism
`flora, sterilization is by a heated mix- .
`lllre of air and steam or by flowing
`
`steam. For low-acid and neutral pro·
`ducts_ (pH > 4.5), a special process is
`used, applying heated hydrogen per(cid:173)
`oxide. Residual sterilizing media is
`removed by drying with sterile air.

`
`We developed an aseptic filling
`and closing machine for bottles
`and wide-mouth containers of
`glass for various perfonnance
`[eve\s. The containen are steri(cid:173)
`lized in upside-down position in
`several parallel rows. ~teriliza
`tion is effected by flushing the
`bottles, inside· and outside, with
`an H202 mjxture and subse-
`~t ~ng ~ sterile air.
`r

`rate and positive removal of
`the steriliZing agent. Our pro(cid:173)
`gram comprises sterilization
`machines with 6 to 30 lines, for
`outputs ranging from 6000 to
`120'00 bottleslh, depending. on
`the filling volume.
`In our lines, we integrate vllrious filling
`!!}'Stems of different conatruction modes:
`
`. For packaging acidic products
`· with a pH value < 4.5 such as
`fruit juices, sauces, dressings,
`yoghurt, we sterilize glass
`bottles and metal closures
`with flowing steam.
`The oxygen percentage in the
`head-space can be decreased
`by admitting a layer of steam
`or by gas flushing. As with all
`our aseptic lines, fill passages
`and fdler are automatically
`cleaned by CIP process and
`subsequently sterilized by
`saturated steam. The interior
`of the lines are sterilized with ·
`'~ a H:P2 mixture and dried off
`before start-up. During opera(cid:173)
`tion, there is a slight sterile air excess
`pressure in the sterile sections of the machine.

`Piston-type fillers for higher viscosity pro(cid:173)
`ducts a.D.a weighfiller i.e. electronically
`controlled add-on fill~ for free-flowing
`products.
`For lower output requirements there are
`intermittently operating in-line fillers;
`rotary fillers can also be provided. Pre(cid:173)
`made metal closures and heat-stressable
`plastic closures are sterilized by a·high(cid:173)
`temperature-/short-time process with satu(cid:173)
`rated steam; heat-sealable film cloSures,
`produced from the reel in the line,
`are sterilized with hydrogen peroxide.
