`
`Some exciting news from Pregnant Fashionista today as I finally feel comfortable telling all of you
`that I am, in fact, pregnant again. Based on my experience telling people face to face or over the
`phone thus far, I feel I need to reassure you that no, I’m not joking and no, I’m not completely nuts
`and yes, I am sure there is only one baby in there this time. This was most
`definitely unplanned and I can’t say I ever envisioned myself having four
`children under the age of two and a half. But I am now at the end of the first
`trimester and all looks healthy with the
`baby, so my husband and I are recovering
`from the shock and starting to plan for #4.
` I must be honest and say I am hoping for a
`little girl this time around. The notion of
`being surrounded by five penises for the
`foreseeable future is not so appealing.
` Look at these guys–don’t they look like
`they need a little sister to soften them up a
`
`little?
`
`As might be expected, planning for #4 has first and foremost involved a complete reassessment of my
`maternity wardrobe and I have spent recent weeks evaluating, streamlining, and making strategic
`shopping choices. Much to my husband’s horror, a large box of some of my favorite maternity
`clothing seems to have vanished during our most recent move in August–which means, of course, that
`new purchases have had to be made. Consequently, I’ll be blogging more often from here on out and
`I’ll be back in my role as maternity fashion guinea pig.
`
`Let’s get down to business–the must-have maternity denim skirt. My favorite
`maternity jean skirt from Blossom Mother and Child (which I blogged about here)
`was sadly in that missing box and I’ve had to do some serious scouting for a new
`one. (By the way, the Blossom Calista skirt is still available here for GBP 125–I
`loved that skirt and wore it to death, but I’m feeling the need for a change). I turned
`to Joe’s Jeans, which offers a few different maternity denim skirts. I’ve tried on all
`of them and the most important lesson I’ve learned is that you do not want a front slit
`in your maternity skirt. There are times to show off your inner thighs and then there
`are times when they are best left to the imagination–pregnancy falls into the second category. So,
`skip Joe’s Gigi Pencil skirt with a front slit and opt for Joe’s Colette A-Line Skirt,

`
`pictured at right. It has a nice shape, a good length, and Pea in the Pod has added its
`brilliant Secret Fit Belly elastic to the waistband, which ensures you can wear it until
`the end of your pregnancy without it unexpectedly sliding off your belly. The
`Colette is available here at Pea in the Pod for USD $190. (By the way, if you head
`to Pea in the Pod’s website, you might also spot Seven’s Ginger Tahoe Skirt. I’ve
`tried this skirt on before and it just doesn’t fit as well as Joe’s options. It has much
`more of an A-line and I really don’t like the Ginger-colored denim wash, it’s a little
`too 80′s for me).
`
`If you are looking for a more budget-conscious denim skirt that still fits
`well, I’d opt for Maternal America’s jean maternity skirt. I ordered this
`skirt as well and while it certainly wasn’t made form the same high-quality
`denim as Joe’s skirts, it is cut nicely, I like the color of the denim, and
`would likely last your whole pregnancy. My only concern is that because
`the fabric is not as sturdy, it might stretch out a good bit. The Maternal
`America skirt is available here at Euphoria Maternity for USD $78 or here
`at Due Maternity for USD $79.
`
`I’ve also ordered Due Maternity’s own denim skirt,
`pictured at right, which has an interesting-looking
`pleat in the front. It hasn’t arrived yet, but I’ll let
`you know how it fits once it gets here. I feel as if
`that pleat could be very cute and flattering or absolutely disastrous. If you
`want to test it out for yourself, it’s available here for USD $88.

`
`Hey, I like the skirts that you picked out, have you looked for any that are a little longer, like
`3/4 length and have you had any luck?
