`
`
`
`
`
`Detailed Description of the Invention
`
`0001
`
`Technical Field to Which the Invention Belongs
`
`
`
`The present invention relates to a communication system that stores voice information
`
`transmitted and received between two communication devices, a repeater that is used by said
`
`communication system, a computer program for realizing said communication system and
`
`repeater, and a computer readable recording media that records said computer program.
`
`0002
`
`Previous Technology
`
`
`
`Securities trading transactions and futures trading transactions are generally performed by
`
`customers who use a telephone to issue instructions to buy or sell to a trading company. When
`
`doing this, if voice information - the content of the transaction - is not recorded, no evidence
`
`remains of the transaction that is instructed, and problems can later occur because of this. Thus,
`
`in the past, customers and trading companies have used telephone sets equipped with a voice
`
`recording device such as a cassette tape recorder or an IC recorder to record voice information -
`
`the content of the transaction - as evidence that is preserved of the transaction.
`
`0003
`
`Problems to Be Solved by the Invention
`
`
`
`However, with the afore-described previous technology, sometimes only portions of the
`
`content of the transaction are recorded. There are also cases where a recorded content is altered
`
`or edited to create information that is favorable for the customer or the trading company. Hence,
`
`CallCopy
`1109-4
`
`

`

`there has been a need for the development of a communication system that allows trade
`
`instructions to be safely issued and the content of the instructions to be reliably checked after a
`
`trade is executed.
`
`0004
`
`
`
`The present invention was made in light of the afore-described, and it is the object of the
`
`present invention to provide: a communication system having a configuration for repeating voice
`
`information transmitted and received between two communication devices and for storing voice
`
`information transmitted from either communication device so that instructions for transactions
`
`communicated by transmission and reception of voice information can be reliably executed and
`
`reliably checked after the transaction is executed; a repeater used by the communication system;
`
`a computer program for realizing the communication system and the repeater; and a computer
`
`readable recording media that records the computer program.
`
`0005
`
`
`
`The other object of the present invention is to provide a communication system and a
`
`repeater that is used in said communication system wherein identification information that
`
`identifies communication devices is stored together with voice information so that the contents
`
`of voice information can be reliably checked after a trade is executed.
`
`0006
`
`Means for Solving the Problem
`
`
`
`In a communication system comprising two communication devices and a repeater that
`
`repeats voice information transmitted and received between the two communication devices, a
`
`first invention is a communication system wherein the repeater comprises a means for storing
`
`voice information when repeating the voice information that is transmitted and received between
`
`the two communication devices.
`
`0007
`
`
`
`A second invention is the communication system according to claim 1 wherein: at least
`
`either one of said communication devices comprises a means for sending identification
`
`information that identifies said communication devices; and when storing said information, said
`
`repeater stores said voice information while associating said voice information with at least
`
`either one of the identification information that is transmitted by the communication devices.
`
`0008
`
`CallCopy
`1109-5
`
`

`

`
`
`In a repeater that is connectable to two communication devices and repeats voice
`
`information transmitted and received between the two communication devices, a third invention
`
`is a repeater comprising a means for storing said voice information when repeating the voice
`
`information transmitted and received between the two communication devices.
`
`0009
`
`
`
`A fourth invention is a computer program comprising: a step for connecting, based on a
`
`connection request information that is input to connect one communication device to another
`
`communication device, both communication devices to a computer; a step for repeating to the
`
`computer a voice information that is transmitted and received between the two communication
`
`devices; and a step for storing said voice information at the computer.
`
`0010
`
`
`
`A fifth invention is a computer readable recording media that records a computer
`
`program comprising: a step for connecting, based on a connection request information that is
`
`input to connect one communication device to another communication device, both
`
`communication devices to a computer; a step for repeating to the computer a voice information
`
`that is transmitted and received between the two communication devices; and a step for storing
`
`said voice information at the computer.
`
`0011
`
`
`
`With the present invention, voice information that is transmitted and received between
`
`two communication devices is repeated and voice information that is transmitted from both
`
`communication devices is stored as well. Hence, if, for example, a trade is transacted between a
`
`trading company and a customer using communication devices such as a telephone, the entire
`
`contents of the trade are recorded as voice information even if neither of the two communication
`
`devices is equipped with a voice recording device such as a cassette tape recorder or an IC
`
`recorder, thus increasing the safety of the trade. Furthermore, because the repeater that repeats
`
`and stores the voice information is owned by a third-party, voice information that relates to the
`
`contents of the trade is not altered or edited, thus increasing the security and reliability of the
`
`trade.
`
`0012
`
`
`
`Furthermore, because, with the present invention, identification information that
`
`identifies the communication devices is stored together with the voice information, the contents
`
`CallCopy
`1109-6
`
`

`

`of a trade can be checked after the trade is executed, thus increasing the safety of the trade.
`
`0013
`
`Modes for Practicing the Invention
`
`
`
`The present invention is specifically described next with reference to drawings showing
`
`modes for practicing the invention. FIG. 1 is a schematic drawing showing the configuration of
`
`a communication system according to the present invention. In the figure, 100 is an information
`
`processing device that is installed in a buy/sell trade call center that serves as a broker between a
`
`customer and a trading company for performing securities trades. Communication device 200
`
`owned by the customer is connected to information processing device 100 via Internet network
`
`IN, gateway device GW1 and a public telephone line network TN1. Also connected to the
`
`information processing device 100 via Internet network IN, gateway device GW2 and public
`
`telephone line network TN2 is communication device 300 owned by the trading company.
`
`0014
`
`
`
`Furthermore, information processing device 400 owned by the customer is also connected
`
`to information processing device 100 at the buy/sell trade call center via the Internet network IN
`
`for receiving web information services that are provided by information processing device 100 at
`
`the buy/sell trade call center.
`
`0015
`
`
`
`Examples of information processing device 100 installed at the buy/sell trade call center
`
`include personal computers, workstations and the like, and examples of communication devices
`
`200 and 300 used by the customer and the trading company include telephones, mobile phones
`
`and the like. Also, an example of information processing device 100 owned by the trading
`
`company and the customer is a personal computer on which a software such as a web browser is
`
`installed.
`
`0016
`
`
`
`Trading companies and customers using the communication system according to the
`
`present invention must register with the system and have member numbers and passwords be
`
`issued by the buy/sell trade call center. Registration for using the system can be performed over
`
`the Internet using information processing device 400 or by using telephones 200, 300.

`
`

`

`
`
`The information processing device 100 at the buy/sell trade call center repeats the voice
`
`information that is transmitted and received between communication device 200 owned by the
`
`customer and communication device 300 owned by the trading company and stores the voice
`
`information after associating a voice call number thereto so as to create an evidence of the
`
`contents of the transaction between the two parties that can be later checked.
`
`0018
`
`
`
`FIG. 2 shows a block diagram of the internal configuration of the information processing
`
`device 100 that is installed at the buy/sell trade call center. In the figure, 101 is a CPU that is
`
`connected by bus 102 to various hardware components further described below which it controls
`
`according to a control program stored in ROM 103. RAM 104, which comprises an SRAM,
`
`flash memory or the like, stores the data that is generated during the execution of the control
`
`program that is stored in ROM 103.
`
`0019
`
`
`
`Display unit 105 is a display device such as a CRT, liquid crystal display or the like.
`
`Input unit 106 is an input device such as a keyboard, mouse or the like.
`
`0020
`
`
`
` Communication unit 107 is equipped with a line terminating device such as a modem
`
`that is used for connecting to the customer's communication device 200 via the Internet network
`
`IN, gateway device GW1 and public telephone line network TN1 and for connecting to the
`
`trading company's communication device 300 via the Internet network IN, gateway device GW2
`
`and public telephone line network TN2. Communication unit 107 also controls the transmission
`
`and reception of information such as ring signals and voice information from communication
`
`devices 200, 300. The various information that is transmitted from communication devices 200,
`
`300 is converted by gateway devices GW1, GW2 to, for example, packet signals, which are then
`
`sent to information processing device 100 via the Internet network IN.
`
`0021
`
`
`
`The communication unit 107 is also connected via the Internet network IN to information
`
`processing device 400 and sends web pages in response to requests from information processing
`
`device 400 so that the desired information is provided to information processing device 400.

`
`

`

`
`
`The internal storage device 109 comprises a storage device such as a hard-disk. Portions
`
`of its storage area are used as a member database 109a for storing information regarding
`
`members such as customers and trading companies that use the communication system according
`
`to the present invention, as a voice call database (voice call DB) 109b for storing voice
`
`information generated by voice call between member customers and member trading companies,
`
`and as sell/buy trade database 109c for storing information regarding selling and buying
`
`transactions that are executed between the customers and the trading companies. The different
`
`databases are accessed as necessary to store and read information.
`
`0023
`
`
`
`External storage device 108 includes a CD-ROM drive and the like for reading computer
`
`programs and data from recording media 110 such as a CD-ROM that records data and computer
`
`programs for the present invention. The computer programs and data that are read are stored in
`
`an internal storage device 109.
`
`0024
`
`
`
`The data and computer programs that are stored in internal storage device 109 are read
`
`into RAM 104 and are executed by CPU 101 to cause the operation of the repeater according to
`
`the present invention as an information processing device 100.
`
`0025
`
`
`
`With this mode of practicing the invention, various databases are created in an internal
`
`storage device 109 of information processing device 100 at the buy/sell trade call center, but
`
`these databases need not necessarily be created in internal storage device 109 of information
`
`processing device 100 at the buy/sell trade call center. Instead, a database server can be
`
`connected to information processing device 100 and the databases created in the database server.
`
`Also, the sell/buy trade database 109c need not be managed by the buy/sell trade call center and
`
`can instead be managed by each trading company.
`
`0026
`
`
`
`FIG. 3 is a block diagram showing the internal configuration of communication device
`
`200 used by customers. In the figure, 201 is a control unit to which hardware such as memory
`
`203, display unit 205, operation unit 206, communication unit 207, sound receiving unit 208,
`
`speaker 209, ring tone output unit 210 and the like is connected. The control unit 201 controls
`
`CallCopy
`1109-9
`
`

`

`each hardware as necessary.
`
`0027
`
`
`
`Display unit 205 comprises a display device such as a liquid crystal display device and
`
`the operation unit 206 is equipped with hardware keys including numerical keys and various
`
`function keys. Communication unit 207 controls the transmission and reception of information
`
`such as voice information.
`
`0028
`
`
`
` Sound receiving unit 208, which is equipped with a microphone, an amplifier and an
`
`A/D converter, none of which is illustrated, receives and converts the voice of someone speaking
`
`into voice information and transmits the converted voice information from communication unit
`
`207. The speaker unit 209, which is equipped with a D/A converter, an amplifier and a speaker,
`
`none of which is illustrated, outputs externally as voice the voice information that is received by
`
`communication unit 207.
`
`0029
`
`
`
`The ring tone output unit 210 is equipped with a buzzer and the like for outputting a ring
`
`tone to notify a person when, for example, a ring signal that is transmitted from communication
`
`device 300 at a trading company is received by communication unit 207.
`
`0030
`
`
`
`The internal configuration of communication device 300 is not described here since it is
`
`the same as the internal configuration of communication device 200.
`
`0031
`
`
`
`FIG. 4 shows a conceptual view of one example of each of the databases. FIG. 4(a)
`
`shows a conceptual view of one example of member database 109a. For each customer and
`
`trading company who have been registered to use the communication system, information such
`
`as member number, password, name (or name of its representative), telephone number and the
`
`like are associated with each other and stored.
`
`0032
`
`
`
`FIG. 4(b) shows a conceptual view of one example of voice call database 109b. Voice
`
`call database 109b stores the contents of a trade that is transacted between a customer and a
`
`trading company using communication device 200 and communication device 300, respectively.
`
`Specifically, the date and time of the trade, member number, voice call number, and voice file
`
`CallCopy
`1109-10
`
`

`

`storing the voice information - the content of the trade - are associated with each other and
`
`stored. The data format of the voice file can be WAV data, MIDI data, MPEG data, AIFF data
`
`and others.
`
`0033
`
`
`
`FIG. 4(c) shows a conceptual view of one example of sell/buy trade database 109c. The
`
`sell/buy trade database 109c stores the contents of the trade transacted between the customer and
`
`the trading company as text data. Specifically, the member number of the customer, the name of
`
`the security that was bought or sold, the quantity, whether it was a buy or a sell, the buying or
`
`selling conditions, and voice call number are associated with each other and stored. These text
`
`data can be input, for example, by a person at the trading company from information processing
`
`device 400 using a web information service that is provided by the buy/sell trade call center. The
`
`text data can also be input by a person at the buy/sell trade call center using information
`
`processing device 100.
`
`0034
`
`
`
`FIG. 5 and FIG. 6 are flowcharts showing the processing procedure used by the
`
`communication system according to the present invention. First, a customer enters a
`
`predetermined telephone number from operation unit 206 of communication device 200 to send a
`
`connection request to information processing device 100 of the buy/sell trade call center (step
`
`S1).
`
`0035
`
`
`
`When the connection request is received by information processing device 100 at the
`
`buy/sell trade call center (step S2), information processing device 100 sends a request to
`
`communication device 200 to enter the member identification information consisting of a
`
`member number and a password (step S3).
`
`0036
`
`
`
`When the member identification information is entered from communication device 200
`
`(step S4) and information processing device 100 at the buy/sell trade call center receives the
`
`member identification information, information processing device 100 searches member
`
`database 109a (step S5) and determines whether or not the member identification information
`
`belongs to a registered member (step S6). If the member identification information does not
`
`belong to a registered member (S6: NO), the process returns to step S3. If the received member
`
`CallCopy
`1109-11
`
`

`

`identification information belongs to a registered member (S6: YES), a ring signal is sent to
`
`communication device 300 of the trading company (step S7).
`
`0037
`
`
`
`When communication device 300 of the trading company receives the ring signal (step
`
`S8), the communication device 300 outputs a ring tone from the ring tone output unit (not
`
`illustrated) (step S9). The communication device 300 then determines, for example, whether or
`
`not a telephone receiver (not illustrated) has been picked up to determine whether or not a
`
`connection has been established (step S10). If a connection has not been established (S10: NO),
`
`the communication device 300 waits until a connection is made. If the telephone receiver is
`
`picked up and a connection is made (S10: YES), the communication device 300 sends an answer
`
`signal to the customer's communication device 200 via information processing device 100 at the
`
`buy/sell trade call center (step S11).
`
`0038
`
`
`
`When the customer's communication device 200 receives the answer signal (step S12),
`
`the customer 's communication device 200 and the trading company's communication device 300
`
`are ready to engage in voice call. When voice information is sent from the customer's
`
`communication device 200 (step S13), the voice information is received by the information
`
`processing device 100 at the buy/sell trade call center (step S14) and is also received by the
`
`trading company's communication device 300 (step S15). The information processing device
`
`100 at the buy/sell trade call center stores the received voice information as a voice file with a
`
`predetermined data format (step S16). The communication device 300 then determines whether
`
`or not the voice call has ended (step S17), and if the voice call has ended (S17: YES),
`
`information processing device 100 assigns a voice call number (step S18) and stores in voice call
`
`database 109b the voice call number that was assigned and associated with the file name of the
`
`voice file storing the voice information (step S19).
`
`0039
`
`
`
`If the voice call has not ended (S17: NO), the trading company's communication device
`
`300 transmits voice information (step S20). The voice information that is transmitted from the
`
`trading company's communication device 300 is received by information processing device 100
`
`at the buy/sell trade call center (step S21) and is also received by the customer's communication
`
`device 200 (step S22). The information processing device 300 at the buy/sell trade call center
`
`CallCopy
`1109-12
`
`

`

`stores the received voice information as a voice file with a predetermined data format (step S23).
`
`The communication device 200 then determines whether or not the voice call has ended (step
`
`S24) and, if the voice call has ended (S24: YES), assigns a voice call number (step S25). The
`
`assigned voice call number that is associated with the file name of the voice file storing the voice
`
`information is stored in voice call database 109b (step S26). If the voice call has not ended (S24:
`
`NO), the process returns to step S13.

`
`
`
`With the present mode of practicing the invention, a connection request coming from
`
`communication device 200 of a registered customer is automatically routed to communication
`
`device 300 of a trading company. However, an alternative mode that can be used involves a
`
`plurality of trading companies using the present communication system, in which event, a
`
`connection request coming from communication device 200 generates a prompt to the customer
`
`to select a trading company and the connection request is routed to the communication device
`
`300 of the selected trading company.
`
`0041
`
`
`
`In addition to repeating and storing the voice information that is transmitted and received
`
`between a customer's communication device 200 and a trading company's communication device
`
`300, the present communication system can also display the contents that are traded using a web
`
`information service and stored by the trading parties (customer and trading company).
`
`0042
`
`
`
`FIG. 7 shows a schematic view of an example of a screen that is displayed on information
`
`processing device 400. When a customer or a trading company uses information processing
`
`device 400 to access a web information service provided by a buy/sell trade call center, a screen
`
`such as that shown in FIG. 7 is displayed. The screen that is displayed here is, for example, a
`
`voice call table 10 that is prepared based on voice call database 109b and displays such
`
`information as the date and time of voice call and the voice call number. By selecting and
`
`operating the playback button 11, 11, ... that is displayed in the playback field, the contents of the
`
`voice call are played back.
`
`0043
`
`
`
`FIG. 8 is a flow chart showing the processing procedure for the communication system
`
`according to the present invention. To display a screen such as that shown in FIG. 7, a
`

`
`

`

`connection request is first sent from information processing device 400 owned by a customer or
`
`a trading company (step S31). The connection request can be sent and the connection can be
`
`established either by entering a predetermined URL from a web browser or by making a
`
`selection from some other web page.
`
`0044
`
`
`
`When the information processing device 100 at the buy/sell trade call center receives the
`
`connection request (step S32), the web page is sent to information processing device 400 that
`
`sent the connection request (step S33).
`
`0045
`
`
`
`When information processing device 400 receives the web page (step S34), information
`
`processing device 400 determines whether or not a member identification information consisting
`
`of a member number and a password has been entered (step S35) and if a member identification
`
`information has not been entered (S35: NO), information processing device 400 waits until the
`
`member identification information is entered. If the member identification information is
`
`entered (S35: YES), the member identification information is sent to information processing
`
`device 100 of the buy/sell trade call center (step S36).
`
`0046
`
`
`
`When information processing device 100 of the buy/sell trade call center receives the
`
`member identification information (step S37), a determination is made as to whether or not the
`
`member identification information belongs to a member by referring to member database 109a
`
`(step S38). If it is determined that the member identification information sent from information
`
`processing device 400 does not belong to a member (S38: NO), the process returns to step S33.
`
`0047
`
`
`
`If a determination is made that the member identification information sent from
`
`information processing device 400 belongs to a member (S38: YES), information processing
`
`device 100 of the buy/sell trade call center sends a web page for the member (step S39).
`
`0048
`
`
`
`When information processing device 400 receives the web page for the member (step
`
`S40), a screen such as that shown in FIG. 7 is displayed on the display unit (not illustrated) of
`
`information processing device 400. Information processing device 400 then determines whether
`
`or not a playback button 11 has been selected. If a playback button 11 has not been selected

`
`

`

`(S41: NO), information processing device 400 waits until a playback button 11 is selected. If a
`
`playback button 11 has been selected (S41: YES), a voice file request information is sent to
`
`information processing device 100 of the buy/sell trade call center (step S42).
`
`0049
`
`
`
`When information processing device 100 of the buy/sell trade call center receives a voice
`
`file request information (step S43), voice call database 109b is searched for the applicable voice
`
`file, and the voice file that is retrieved is sent to information processing device 400 (step S44).
`
`0050
`
`
`
`When information processing device 400 receives the voice file (step S45), the voice
`
`information that is stored in the voice file is played back (step S46).
`
`0051
`
`
`
`With the present mode of practicing the invention, communication devices 200, 300 are
`
`connected to information processing device 100 of the buy/sell trade call center via public
`
`telephone line networks TN1, TN2 and Internet network IN. However, needless to say, a
`
`dedicated line can also be established between communication devices 200, 300 and information
`
`processing device 100.
`
`0052
`
`
`
`The present mode of practicing the invention has been explained as a communication
`
`system that is used for securities trading, but the scope of use of the present communication
`
`system is not limited to securities trading and can be used for general commercial transactions
`
`such as placing orders and receiving orders for products, reservation services for travel and
`
`lodging, and the like.
