`Phenolic Composites—Novel Developments
`in Products and Processing

`Abstract
`
`Recent developments in the nature of phenolic resins and catalysts (for example,
`Cellobond FRP range from BP Chemicals Ltd) for the production of fibre-reinforced
`composites are presented. These are shown to be making significant steps towards
`meeting the needs of both fabricators and end-user markets such as the rail industry. In
`addition, novel phenolic composite products are discussed which may be of value in the
`production of future rail vehicles where fire safety and weight reduction are becoming
`increasingly important.
