`The following is an examiner's statement of reasons for allowance:

`Many references in the art disclose network security system for detecting removal of electronic
`
`equipment or DC—DC power converter including sensing means for providing an output when the
`
`reserve power of the converter fall below a predetermined amount for a given input voltage, such
`
`as that found in Cummings et al.[ US. Pat. 5,406,260 ] or Ziermann [ US. Pat. 5,289,359 ]. But
`
`no prior art reference utilizes the an apparatus for remotely powering access equipment in a data
`
`network which comprises all subject matters as follow:
`
`a data node adapted for data switching;
`
`an access device adapted for data transmission;
`
`at least one data signaling pair connected between the data node and the access
`
`device and arranged to transmit data therebetween;
`
`a main power source connected to supply power to the data node;
`
`a second power source arranged to supply power to the data node via said data signaling
`
`pair to the access device;
`
`sensing means for delivering a low level current from said main power source to the
`
`access device over said data signaling pair and sensing a resulting voltage level thereon; and
