`Boyd Cloern is a patent litigator in our Washington D.C. office. He has a particular focus on the
`automotive industry where he has litigated patent cases involving fuel injection systems, engine
`combustion processes, tire pressure monitoring systems, infotainment systems, side impact systems,
`occupant sensing systems, four-wheel drive systems and accelerometers. Mr. Cloern has also litigated
`patent cases in the defense, telecommunications, consumer products, semiconductor, and medical devices
`industries involving sniper detection systems, call center routing, database architecture, video
`conferencing, consumer appliances, microprocessor architecture, semiconductor manufacturing processes,
`and medical devices. He also litigates trade secret and copyright disputes and counsels clients on patent,
`copyright, and licensing issues, including open source.

`systems as plaintiff in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan and as defendant in
`U.S. District Court for the Western District of Virginia.

` Representing financial services company in patent infringement litigation involving call center and
`video conference technology.

` Represented automotive manufacturing company in defense of patent litigation claims involving
`engine combustion processes and fuel injection systems filed in U.S. District Court for the Central
`District of California. Plaintiff voluntarily dismissed all claims with prejudice and without payment
`following favorable claim construction.

` Represented consumer products company as plaintiff in a patent infringement case involving blender
`technology in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia. Achieved favorable settlement.

` Represented defense contractor in defense of patent infringement claims related to remote operating
`weapons station. Plaintiff voluntarily dismissed its claims without payment.

` Represented tobacco flavoring company and executives in defense of trade secrets, fraud and contract
`claims in U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland. Achieved summary judgment on all counts.

` Represented over 25 automotive manufacturers and suppliers as industry joint defense counsel in a
`series of patent infringement actions involving side impact systems in U.S. District Court for the
`Eastern District of Michigan. Achieved dismissal of all cases on summary judgment invaliding all
`asserted patents.

`systems in U.S. District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin. Plaintiff dismissed all claims
`without payment.
